Get involved

Want to get more involved in community life? Here are some places to check out:

imin-volunteersMake a difference – There are lots of ways that you can help to make a difference in Kirklees, just by giving that most valued of gifts – your time. Have a look at the many ways you can help while making friends, learning new skills and having fun.

Do It search for volunteering opportunities

Do-it is a national volunteering website that lists details of thousands of opportunities for volunteering.

Volunteering Kirklees also keep a list of Local volunteering opportunities that don’t appear on Do-it, often shorter term or one-off opportunities from smaller groups.

Booklet of volunteering opportunities

Volunteering Kirklees put together a quarterly booklet of local volunteering opportunities. Download the booklet or pick up a printed copy from their office.

As part of “I’m In”, we are also piloting two impact volunteering projects. There are opportunities for you to get involved in both of these:

  • Out and About – tackling loneliness in our older population
  • MENtors – providing a positive influence and support for young men

Share your feedback

There are thousands of opportunities across Kirklees for people to take part, volunteer or get involved in community projects and activities. We know that finding the right one for you isn’t as easy as it should be. So we’re working with all the organisations and places that host volunteers in Kirklees. Together we will make it easier to promote existing opportunities and we’ll create new approaches that work with all our lifestyles.

It would be really useful for us to hear about your experience of volunteering in the Kirklees area so far. What would make it easier for you to volunteer? Are you part of a local group who find it difficult to recruit volunteers? Have you heard about any interesting approaches to volunteering that you’d like to share with us? Do you think we could do more to celebrate local volunteers?

Please contact us if you have any comments, suggestions or ideas to share – we’d love to hear from you.
