Enjoy the fresh air in the beautiful landscape of Oakwell Hall by volunteering with our Rangers to contribute to maintaining this important and historic site. Volunteers can help in one of the Hall’s 6 stunning gardens or get more involved with conservation tasks in over 110 acres of the surrounding country park.
Tasks vary seasonally but volunteers usually help with:
- Gardening tasks such as planting, weeding, pruning.
- Conservation tasks such as hedge laying, tree planting and improving footpaths.
You will be supported by Kirklees Council’s Museums and Galleries service.
This is an ideal role for: Someone who enjoys the outdoors and cares passionately about making sure this beautiful site can continue to be enjoyed by whole community. The role will suit anyone who wants to improve their health and wellbeing and become part of a friendly team.
Time commitment: 2-3 hours per week. Volunteering takes place between 10am and 3pm on Thursdays, although you aren’t required to attend every week.
Location: Oakwell Hall and Country Park.
Training: No specific training is needed before you take up this role although all volunteers will receive an induction session with a tour of the site. Training around the task and the tools to be used will take place at the start of every session so volunteers are clear on what they’re doing and how to do it.
