Practical skills

Let’s Move Volunteer
Yorkshire Children’s Centre

Help out when we work with recycling charity Pass It On to support people who need to down-size their homes. Sometimes people just cannot face the upheaval and need help to pack boxes, tidy, do trips to the charity shop etc. As well as practical support they need care and understanding at an emotional time. Finally they might need support with the actual move and settling into their new home and surroundings.

Dementia Reading Companions

Hearing stories and poems read aloud can be really enjoyable for groups, including people with dementia. Could you help to create a friendly reading session?  An hour- long session might explore a well-known poem or extracts from a book and will hopefully trigger memories and personal stories from group members. It’s an enjoyable, social role with immediate feedback!
